MAdeleine Jeannest (1892-1957)

Born November 25, 1892 in Paris 5th. Died on December 13, 1957 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Fashion designer artist. Madeleine is the daughter of Louis Pierre Jeannest and Jeanne Legrand, residing at 18, rue d'Orléans in Neuilly-sur-Seine. On January 21, 1931, she married at Le Vésinet with the painter Georges Gimel. The witnesses of the marriage were the French pianist Emma Boynet and the artist Albert Chartier, painter and sculptor. She will reside at 16, avenue du Grand-Veneur, Le Vésinet, before leaving for Megève. On August 6, 1930, Madeleine gave birth to a daughter Françoise Gimel at Le Vésinet. Madeleine created watercolors and gouaches for the famous French magazines Le Jardin des Modes and The Gazette du Bon Ton, as well as for the famous couturiers Jean Patou and Paul Poiret during the Roaring Twenties in Paris. She has also worked for various haute couture houses : the Premet house, Max furs, etc... She is the sister of Marthe Jeannest, also a fashion designer.
